OBH-15 $450
With modern amplifiers expected
to cater for so many new devices, the Phono capability has
frequently been one of the features to disappear. Creek Audio
has always been aware of the benefits of vinyl that
is why the company continues to provide a number of Phono
stage options.
The most recent addition to the Creek range
is the OBH-15, combining moving magnet and moving coil Phono
pre-amplifiers, into one diminutive chassis. Seriously impressive
and offering audiophile performance, the new OBH-15 will augment
any system.

Grado [back

Our new Grado Phono Preamp, model PH-1, represents
the most successful solution to one of the most complex technical
challenges in the field of audio that Grado Labs has ever
tackled. It can be compared to the undertaking of designing
our highly acclaimed phono cartridges, headphones and our
world renowned RA-1 headphone amplifier over the past several
years. Our design goals were for a truly superb sounding phono
preamp to work equally well with both low and high output
cartridges with negligible noise. We wanted a phono preamp
with ultra wide band pass, high overload, virtually perfect
RIAA amplitude and phase coherency, and very low output impedance.
This was the challenge set forth! This we have accomplished!
We realized immediately that a challenge like
this was not going to be met by using either of the time-honored
methods of passive or active equalization circuits. The relative
advantages and disadvantages of these old methods are very
well known: the passive preamp approach is characterized by
problems of first stage headroom and second stage noise. This
is due to the 40dB high frequency insertion-loss of the passive
network itself. Phono stage gain is frequency dependent with
the result of too little feedback at the low end and too much
at the high end. Of course, both extremes are sonically non-optimum
and unacceptable.
The more commonly used active equalization stage
provides solutions to the classic passive circuit problems,
but it also comes with a whole new set of its own problems.
These difficulties arise out of the subtle ramifications of
the classic negative feedback theory. The RIAA characteristic
requires that the amplifier's closed-loop gain needs to change
by a hundred to one (40dB) over the entire audio range. This
means too little feedback-closure at low frequencies and too
much at high frequencies. Too little causes inadequate suppression
of simple distortions, and too much causes the generation
of complex distortions (high-order).
The new Grado phono preamp circuit design now
has all of the advantages of the old methods, yet none of
its antiquated disadvantages! The challenge was met! The processing
problem has been split into two separate parts: a forward
propagating signal current and a back propagating error voltage.
We have indeed eliminated all of the past methods. Our new
phono equalization technique is a derivative of the principals
that we used in our highly regarded RA-1 headphone amplifier.
In this design, feedback closure ratio does not change with
frequency, but the total output gain does. Virtually all latter
stage noise disappears! The output impedance is very low,
with the EQ stage opened-loop and the closed-loop gain being
the same. The best of both worlds!
What is so significant about these new innovations
is the fact that the technical superiority claims absolutely
correlate to an unprecedented improvement in openness, greater
depth of field and increased definition to the sound of each
musical instrument. The PH-1 offers a true freedom from past
sonic problems along with Grado's usual warm, smooth, full
bodied, non-fatiguing and rich sound qualities that everyone
has embraced.
If your turntable is driven with a Grado
cartridge then you deserve to go the final step with the new
PH-1 phono preamp.

Black Cube SE $1,049
Since 1995 the Black Cube has gained a reputation of being the most cost effective phono stage on the market and has been overwhelmingly recognized by the international press.
The Black Cube SE takes what is already great to a whole new level and provides an excellent entry into high end. It has the same features as mentioned above, but they have added an amazing outboard power supply - the PWX. The PWX features a 30W toroidal transformer and it's the main reason for the significant upgrade in sonic performance. This PWX sports a grounded isolation coil between the primary and secondary coil - resulting in much more bass authority, a more liquid midrange as well as more openness. The price per performance ratio is why more and more analog music lovers choose the Black Cube SE right from the start.

Black Cube Twin $1,699
Many audiophiles passionate about analog may have two turntables, or two tonearms, and therefore need two phono stages. The Black Cube Twin gives you full flexibility of two complete phono stages. The unit consists of two identical audio boards powered by one PWX power supply. Listeners confirm that the performance of the Black Cube Twin equals that of two single Black Cubes SE. The same fast attack response, great imaging and accurate soundstage….all at a very affordable price.

The PWX Power Supply $499
The case on this power supply is made of nonmagnetic aluminum and the top cover is coated with a special anti-resonance treatment. It features a 30W high current toroidal transformer with a protection coil between the primary and secondary coil, which also filters away common mode interferences. Lehmannaudio includes a special shielded cable between power supply and the audio section, and the cable is terminated with a Neutrik connector (with gold plated contacts) at the power supply side.

The Black Cube Decade $2,399
The Black Cube Decade is the current top model of the Black Cube series of phono stages. It was developed to fill the large performance gap between the company's own Black Cube SE and the Silver Cube (Lehmannsaudio's current reference phono stage).
- The input stages used in the Black Cube Decade can also be found in professional mixing consoles and microphone preamps.
- The passive filter network between the two linear gain stages use precision MKP caps.
- Adjustable resistor and capacitive load options are available.
- Adjustable gain (36dB - 66dB) and soft bass roll off - located on the front faceplate.
- Onboard slot for a custom impedance load.
- Zero "global" feedback Class A output stage.
- High quality printed circuit board features mounted RCA connectors for optimal signal routing.
- Neutrik XLR connector with gold plated contacts for its power supply connection.
- Anodized aluminum faceplate: black or silver.

Silver Cube $5,199
The Silver Cube is Lehmannaudio's current reference phono stage. Its design not only provides maximum air and space with excellent soundstage depth and width, but also excellent dynamics, stunningly fast attack response, pace, timing, and dynamics. The case is made from billet aluminum, milled out for the audio section and acts as a heat sink for the discrete zero-feedback Class-A FET output stage.

Phono Pak
Whether you're just getting started in the audiophile hobby
or need a accurate, low noise preamp for digital transfer
work, the MMF Phono Pak is a good choice. The simple fact
that you can get a quiet, accurate phono stage for under $100
is beyond belief.
The MMF Phono Pak debunks the myth that you
have to spend big money to experience the sound of low output
moving coil cartridges.
The Music Hall MMF Phono Pak is easy to install.
It can be placed anywhere and requires no attendance. It is
happy to remain powered up at all times.

Bellari vp129 $250
music hall is proud to announce the exclusive audio distribution for the Bellari vp129 phono preamp. The vp129 is a tube phono preamp with a built in headphone amplifier, for use with moving-magnet and high output moving-coil cartridges. The vp129 is designed to amplify an RIAA equalized phono signal to a hi-level signal. Since the unit utilizes tube circuitry, the resulting output signal is more warm and musical than solid state preamplifiers. The real kicker aside from the price and stellar sound is that it's manufactured in the US.
